cavesleeper
A downloadable game for Windows
"Something terrible is inside these mines, and you as an employee must quickly make your way back to the surface to not encounter it. The lift should keep you entirely safe as long as you make sure not to make any pauses and reach the surface as quickly as you can. You have also been equipped with a Flare Gun just in case you need to use it, not that you will ever need to, our state-of-the-art lift technology should be more than enough to get you to safety."
ABOUT THE GAME:
cavesleeper is a short but difficult survival horror game where you are stuck on a lift, trying to reach the surface, while dealing with the monsters that are roaming inside.
It is believed the monster dislikes eye contact, so look through the tunnels thoroughly for his breathing, then stare that way until it stopped, however if you see it appear, it might be too late for this.
Lucky for you, the monster is afraid of bright lights, and for that reason you have been equipped with a Flare Gun, which will completely prevent the monsters attacks from the hallway you shoot it in. Save this only for emergencies, it is advised to first try eye contact and only use a flare if things escalate.
It is also worth noting that in case the lift system crashes for any reason on the way up and needs to be restarted, the computer may or may not occasionally require manual intervention.
MADE IN 9 DAYS:
This entire game has been put together by a single person (Me :D) over the course of around 9 Days for the Falling Block Jam 2025, and I REALLY tried my best to make it as good as I possibly can, but don't expect a huge game out of this.
CONTROLS:
A/D or Arrow Keys to Look Around
Hold LMB to drag Objects Around
Press F to Shoot a Flare
Everything in the game is copyright free and can be used for any type of content.

The monster was definitely hard to spot, I'm unsure as to what kind of cue I was waiting for, but it'll be a great game fore sure! I enjoyed it
Thank you! I will update the game to make it a bit more intuitive. Thanks for trying it anyways! <3
To explain it for now, what you actually need to do is look into the tunnels for a sound, you can only hear the noise when looking in the right tunnel, and you need to wait on each tunnel for a little bit to hear it.
Ahhh, that's what I was missing. Thank you for clarifying that
Stylistically, this looks absolutely awesome. I particularly like the fading away of the UI elements / tutorial. Also… a curious take on fallling block haha
But in terms of gameplay, maybe I misunderstood something, but I’m stuck in a loop where I frantically try looking towards all 3 tunnels, but the monster arrives anyways, I waste a flare, keep looking at the tunnels while fixing the blocks, the monster arrives again and I die before I can get a 2nd block :( From your video it seems like I’m doing things correctly (??)
But again, excellent job, very atmospheric. (nice itch.io page btw)
Thank you!
Basically in terms of gameplay you need to switch between the tunnels that aren’t protected by a flare, and listen for if one of them is going to make a sound, you can hear it in the video when I stop and start staring into a tunnel, you need to stay on that tunnel until the sound is fully gone, otherwise it will still attack.
You can also use a flare to your advantage if it becomes difficult to manage all 3 tunnels.
Ohh I see, yeah I was switching between tunnels non stop (including the one with the flare) Also, I didn’t notice this sound you mention, only when the eyes already show up (Which I thought at first was the thing I had to stare, until I died haha)
